Pedra da Gávea School is committed to educating children for independent thinking, expanding their understanding of the world, encouraging free expression, respect for differences, social interaction, and the recognition of human diversity. We aim to nurture a sense of belonging — to both our species and our planet — while empowering children to fully develop their potential and recognize themselves as active participants in their own growth journey.
Therefore, our educational approach is grounded in work projects that deal with knowledge in an integrated and interdisciplinary manner, which arise from children’s interests and unfold to new discoveries.
We value play as a powerful source of learning and embrace multiple languages of expression as essential tools for communication, creativity, and forms of children’s self-documentation.

Schedule a VisitConstructivism has brought countless contributions to contemporary education. Many of today’s most innovative educational practices were developed based on this teaching philosophy, as children have gradually become the central focus of the pedagogical process as active and engaged participants.
To achieve this goal, various strategies were implemented, including project-based learning approaches, which foster greater involvement, autonomy, and meaningful learning experiences.
We approach sustainability from three interconnected perspectives:
• Environmental – cultivating care and respect for nature through hands-on practices liketaking care of the school garden and encouraging conscious consumption.
• Personal – fostering inner balance and well-being through mindfulness and yoga activities.
• Social – nurturing empathy and respect for others through collaborative projects and daily interactions within our school community.
We believe that visual arts, music, cinema, theater, photography, and body movement are essential languages for human development. Through these forms of expression, children are encouraged to explore their creativity, sensitivity, curiosity, and innovative potential—nurturing unique ways of seeing, feeling, and engaging with the world.
The English curriculum at Escola Pedra da Gávea is designed to develop fluent, proficient students with a broad academic and cultural repertoire. Built to expand learners’ worldviews and ways of thinking, second language acquisition is an integral part of everyday life. Immersed in a stimulating, experience-rich environment, students enhance not only their cognitive abilities and linguistic awareness but also their capacity to connect with diverse perspectives—preparing them to engage as active, thoughtful global citizens.
We believe in the power of technology to transform the learning experience. At Escola Pedrada Gávea, digital tools are integrated into our educational approach through four key pillars:wide access to content, interactivity, personalized learning tools, and continuousimprovement in information management. This integration enhances autonomy, engagement, and critical thinking, preparing students to navigate and shape a constantlyevolving digital world.
